About Working Here

A Team of 47 People Moving 400,000+ Pallets a Year

Norwalk Pallets was founded in 2008 with a single truck, a rented yard, and a straightforward idea: used pallets have value, and somebody should be recovering it instead of sending them to landfills. What started as a one-person operation has grown into a team of 47 employees running one of the most efficient pallet recycling and resale facilities in the Northeast.

We're not a tech startup. We're not a venture-backed operation chasing hockey-stick growth charts. We're a physically demanding, operationally complex business that succeeds because our people show up, work hard, and care about doing things right. Our revenue has grown every year since 2012 — not because of clever marketing, but because we deliver on what we promise, and our team makes that possible.

The people who thrive here like working with their hands, enjoy being outdoors, and take satisfaction in building something tangible each day. They value directness over diplomacy, action over meetings, and results over resumes. If that sounds like you, keep reading.

We're a Small Team That Does Big Volume

Norwalk Pallets is not a corporation. We're a close-knit operation where every person's work is visible and valued. When something goes wrong, we fix it together. When something goes well, everyone knows who made it happen.

We handle hundreds of thousands of pallets per year out of our Norwalk yard, and we do it with a team that takes genuine pride in doing things right. No politics, no bureaucracy, no hidden agendas. Just good work, fair pay, and a team that has your back.

Why Work Here

8 Reasons People Choose Norwalk Pallets

There are a lot of warehouse and logistics jobs in Fairfield County. Here's why people choose us — and stay.

🏗️

Real Work, Real Impact

Every pallet you touch serves a client, moves a product, or saves a tree from being cut down. Your daily output has tangible, measurable results — not abstract metrics on a dashboard nobody checks.

📣

Your Voice Actually Matters

With 47 people, there are no layers of middle management filtering your ideas. If you see a better way to do something, you tell us. If it works, we implement it. Multiple process improvements in our yard came directly from team members on the floor.

💵

Above-Market Pay

We benchmark our pay against warehouse, logistics, and manufacturing roles in Fairfield County. Our rates run 10–15% above average for comparable positions because we want the best people and we know that starts with fair compensation.

🎓

We Invest in Your Growth

From forklift certifications to OSHA training to industry knowledge, we pay for everything. We don't just fill a role — we build careers. Multiple team members have earned certifications and promotions entirely through our internal programs.

🤝

Team Culture, Not Corporate Culture

No cubicles, no passive-aggressive emails, no all-hands meetings that could have been a text. We communicate directly, solve problems together, and celebrate wins as a team. Most of our crew has been here 3+ years because the environment is genuinely good.

🌱

Sustainability Mission

We divert thousands of tons of wood from landfills every year. Our work directly reduces logging demand, lowers carbon emissions, and supports a circular economy. If you want a job where the mission is more than a poster on the wall, this is it.

Predictable Schedule

We're not a 24/7 warehouse operation burning people out on rotating shifts. Our standard schedule is Monday through Friday, day shift. Overtime is available but almost never mandatory. You'll know your schedule and be able to plan your life around it.

🏠

Local and Stable

We've been in Norwalk since 2008. We're not a startup that might disappear next year, and we're not a franchise that could relocate. This is an established, profitable business with deep roots in the community. Your job security is real.

From Our Team

What Our Employees Say

I came here from a big warehouse distribution center where nobody knew my name. Here, my work actually matters. When I figured out a better way to stage loads for the morning trucks, they implemented it the next week. At my old job, I couldn't even get a meeting with a supervisor. Best move I ever made.

MR

Marco R.

Forklift Operator — 4 years

The pace is fast and the days fly by. I coordinate 8–12 deliveries a day across three states, and no two days are the same. What keeps me here is the team — when a route falls apart or a truck breaks down, everyone rallies. There's no finger-pointing. We just solve it and move on.

ST

Sarah T.

Dispatch & Logistics Coordinator — 3 years

I started as a yard helper stacking pallets. Now I run the grading line and train new sorters. They invested in me when I had zero experience. I've been offered more money elsewhere, but I stay because I actually like coming to work here. That's hard to put a price on.

DJ

Dwayne J.

Pallet Sorter / Inspector — 6 years

Coming from pharmaceutical sales, I wasn't sure about the pallet industry. But the margins are real, the product is tangible, and the clients actually need what we sell. There's no fluff here. I hit my quota every quarter because the product speaks for itself — I just need to get us in front of the right people.

LM

Lisa M.

Sales Representative — 2 years

I take a broken pallet and make it good as new. When you're repairing 100+ pallets a day, you get into a rhythm and the time flies. The pay is solid, the overtime is there when I want it, and I don't have to sit at a desk all day. My friends in office jobs are jealous of how fit I stay just doing my job.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About Applying

Do I need pallet industry experience to apply?

No. Most of our team had no pallet experience when they started. We train for every skills-based role — sorting, grading, repair, forklift operation — all of it. What we can't train is reliability, work ethic, and attitude. If you bring those, we'll handle the rest.

How long does it take to hear back after applying?

We review applications within 3–5 business days. If we see a good fit, we'll call or email to schedule a brief phone screen followed by an on-site visit. Our hiring process usually takes 1–2 weeks from application to offer.

Can I visit the yard before applying?

Absolutely. We encourage it. Email [email protected] or call us at (203) 286-4069 to schedule a yard tour. Seeing the operation firsthand gives you a much better sense of whether this environment is right for you.

What does the interview process look like?

For most roles: a 15-minute phone screen, then a 30–45 minute on-site interview and yard walkthrough. For management and sales roles, there may be a second conversation with ownership. We don't do panel interviews or homework assignments. We keep it human.

Is there room to grow, or will I be stuck in the same job?

Growth is real here — it's not something we just put on the website. Multiple team members have advanced 2–3 roles within their first few years. Our QA Lead started as a yard helper. Our lead dispatcher started on the floor. When you demonstrate initiative and skill, we promote from within first.

What are the working hours?

Standard shift is Monday through Friday. Early shift starts at 6:30 AM and runs to 3:00 PM. Standard shift runs 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Some roles have optional Saturday overtime, especially during peak seasons (spring and fall). We value work-life balance and don't mandate weekend work without advance notice.

Do you offer relocation assistance?

Not at this time. Our roles are on-site in Norwalk, CT. We do serve team members who commute from surrounding areas including Stamford, Bridgeport, Westport, and Fairfield County. For management-level positions, we may discuss relocation support on a case-by-case basis.

I don't see a role that fits me. Can I still apply?

Yes. We're always open to hearing from talented, motivated people. Send your resume and a note about what you're looking for to [email protected]. If we don't have an immediate fit, we'll keep you on file for future openings and reach out when something aligns.
